Wheat State Camp Rules & Expectations

Below are some of our rules and expectations, but they are not limited to those listed. Students are expected to abide by these rules and respect our leaders at all times:

  • Respect all leaders and students.

  • No bullying, pranks, or behavior that makes others feel unsafe or disrespected.

  • No weapons, tobacco, alcohol, drugs, or fireworks allowed.

  • No cell phones or devices of any kind—please leave them at home. If a student brings one, we will collect it and store it securely.

  • Leaders will send updates throughout the week, and Sonya will also email updates.

  • Boundary lines will not be crossed: boys stay on their side, girls stay on their side. If crossed, parents/guardians will be contacted and required to pick up their student.

  • Students must wear appropriate clothing at all times.

  • Girls:

    • Modest one-piece swimsuit (if you don't already have one, you can wear a shirt or tank top over a two-piece; please avoid white)
    • Modest shorts (girls can wear biker shorts/leggings if worn with a t-shirt that covers their backside)
    • NO spaghetti straps
    • NO cropped shirts
    • NO shirts with inappropriate or suggestive slogans or designs

    Boys:

    • NO low-cut sleeveless shirts
    • NO cropped shirts
    • NO shirts with inappropriate or suggestive slogans or designs
  • Students may not be alone and must travel in a group of three at all times.

  • Students may not be in their cabin by themselves.

Important: As a parent/guardian, you understand that if your student crosses a boundary at any point, or if your student’s behavior makes others feel unsafe or disrespected (including bullying, pranks, or boundary violations), parents/guardians will be contacted immediately and will be required to pick up their student from Wheat State Retreat Center.

Dietary Restrictions & Food Allergies

Once it is made available to us, we will send the daily menu for the week. If your student has food allergies, please review the menu so you can supplement as needed. Unfortunately, Wheat State does not provide a separate menu for special dietary needs, and we typically receive the menu the week of camp.

  • Wheat State has items for gluten sensitivity, but for allergies (including Celiac), they cannot guarantee no cross-contamination.

  • A fridge/freezer and microwave are available to our group in the dining hall for supplemental food.

  • Depending on the allergy, students may be able to rely more on the salad bar if needed.

  • We will have coolers to transport any food you send with your student.

  • Students are responsible for their own meal supplies—consider sending less-important items (plastic containers/utensils).

  • If your student will not be eating camp food at all, please contact us and let us know.
